Robyn's e-News

Hi All,
Hope you didn't miss the E News too much. There is a bit to catch up on so here goes:
It's the busy, busy dry season again with lots happening in and around Darwin. The Open Water Triathlon last Sunday had a few athletes checking the beach and surrounds in case that croc had moved location. Thanks to RD Dave Janmaat and all the volunteers who assisted with the event. Baby Caden had her first introduction to club racing and was pretty impressed with what she saw.

OTHER NEWS:
1. Australia gets to send a team of three female and only two male athletes to the Olympics. The best of the Aussie guys at World's was Simon Thompson who came in at 12th. Well done, Tommo.
2. Some of the female Age Groups for the ITU World Triathlon Champs had their swim reduced to 1.1km because of the conditions. After the F50-54 wave, officials canned the swim altogether and went to a 3km run/40/10 option for the F55-59 & up and all male categories. So keep that in mind when checking results. Ceinwyn was one of the lucky (?) ones to get a 1.1km swim in and Monica got to do 3/40/10.
3. Oh oh, Tom Boonen has tested positive to cocaine in an out of competition drugs test. Looks like he won't start in Tour of Switzerland.
4. A reminder for all those interested in doing the Katherine Ultra Challenge. On line registration needs to be finalised by 18 June 08 or a late fee will apply.
5. Ali Fitch is in Idaho training for her next IM. It's snowing ! Lets hope the weather improves in the next couple of weeks.
6. Another reminder - City2Surf (15 June 08) entry is also online at www.ntathletics.org.au or entry forms available in NT News. Don't forget compulsory registration for all competitors will take place at the Holiday Inn on the Esplanade from 4.30pm to 6.30pm on 13 June and between noon and 3.30pm on 14 June 08.
7. Open category competitors in this year's City 2 Surf are racing for prizemoney (top 5 male and female). Only open category individual athletes are eligible for prizemoney, but they are ineligible for age group prizes.
8. I'm still pinching myself after getting a slot for Hawaii Ironman in October. An unexpected dream come true. Michelle also picked up a slot but declined. She will be getting some more experience at the 70.3 & Olympic distance events before she takes on the IM distance.
9. A number of our members participated in the NT Road Cycling C'ships at Batchelor over the weekend. Congratulations to Alistair Donohoe U15 Champion and Belinda Birk Womens Masters Champion.
10. Hope your training is going well for the NT Long Course Triathlon (24 August 08). More info shortly on that event.
YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN....

…you hear every cough and sneeze (on a plane, at the shops, anywhere) and try not to breath so you don’t catch what they have
Triathlon 3 x the fun
Cheers
