OTHER NEWS:

1. Many of our members are heading down to Katherine for Saturday's Ultra Challenge either as individual or team competitors &/or support crew. We wish them good luck as they swim down the Gorge, run cross country, MTB, road run, kayak and road ride over a total of 100 kms. Defending champions are Ian Norton and Nikki Roddie.

2. A few last minutes changes are being made to KUC teams (eg Nic Hahn managed to break her wrist over the weekend while enjoying herself on mtb & has had to drop out of her team) and crews. If you find you are now available to head to Katherine and would like to support a competitor please let me know. I'm sure grateful competitors will make every effort to get you there and back & will shout you to presentation dinner etc etc. You could probably name your price. Support crews have a lot of fun during the day and it gives you a chance to get a taste of the event especially if you think you may like to give it a go. If you are available please email darwintriclub@bigpond.com

3. Sophie Hawken will be competing in the Bali International Triathlon on Sunday.

4. I think the number of people out and about training could reflect the changes to the club events calendar. With the NT Long Course just around the corner, another sprint series prior to Christmas & also earlier club champs, there is no chance to rest easy on last season form.

5. Triathlon NT is still seeking expressions of interest from club members willing to form a committee to assist with the organization of the Arafura Games Olympic Distance Triathlon race, due to be held in May 2009. A cross-section of skills and attributes are required on the committee. The position of Race Director is also available. Contact Brett at brettverity@myaccess.com.au

6. Good luck to Beccy Thyne who is heading off to Canberra shortly for the Kowalski Consulting Jnr & Women's Cycle Tour (4-6 July) and then goes on to SA for another tour in Central Districts (11 -13 July). We wish Bec strong riding.

7. And speaking of riding, I hope you are all depositing to your sleep banks as it's not long now until the Tour de France starts (5 July) and we will be sleep deprived again. Was that really a year ago??

Triathlon 3 x the fun
Cheers
Robyn

1. Watch for Alpha magazine out soon. You will see another side of triathletes Emma Snowsill, Emma Moffatt and Erin Densham. Might interest the guys more.

3. Disappointing news in overnight. Ali Fitch was a late withdrawal from Coeur d'Alene after coming down with a debilitating virus. The race is currently in progress.

4. Matt King has been enjoying the sights of Paris, what a life.

5. Triathlon season got underway in Nhulunbuy yesterday with a good roll up of juniors and seniors. Along with the usual hazards we face here during training, over in Gove they have to be on the look out for charging buffalos as well.

7. Congratulations to Kyle Gear on his win in the Fannie Bay Swim. A large number of our members also competed, well done. Results to come.
