OTHER NEWS:

1. Triathlon NT announced this week, a new partnership with international clothing brand Jaggad which will provide some great benefits for members including gift certificates. You need to register to use it. For more info about the partnership and links to the Jaggad catalogue, see www.triathlonnt.com.au.

2. Looking for an away triathlon? You may want to head for Far North Queensland & one of the most spectacular scenic races you will find anywhere. Held on 19 September, the Port Douglas Triathlon consists of a warm 2km ocean swim, an awesome 80 km ride out through the cane fields & 20km run that takes in Port Douglas's famous 4 mile beach (also a short course of half that distance is available). Check out more detail at www.cairnscrocs.org.au

3. NT Athletics will hold the NT Road Running Championships (5km & 10km) 7am 20 September 09 at Lake Alexander. Further info and entry details at www.ntathletics.org.au

4. Ron Griep is on the mend but is finding it slow going. Patience Ron, patience !

5. We wish Craig Garland a speedy recovery. He's sporting a lot of road pizza after being run off the road yesterday. Got up & dusted himself off but now feeling the pain.

6. Matt Brearley, Tim Ellison, Ian Norton, Rob Brooks, Brett Reedy, Bec Thyne and Phil Brownscombe were among 80 odd riders who did the inaugural Bay in a Day ride yesterday. The Darwin Cycling Club (particularly Theresa) did a fantastic job. There were 2 catered stops, 1 at Berry Springs and 1, 25 km from Mandorah. If you weren’t careful you could put on some weight - they had muffins, biscuits, juice, soft drinks, snakes, lollies, Gatorade and water. It was a perfect morning. There was no wind for the entire ride and it was cool but not cold. Completion times for the ride ranged from 3:37 to 8:00 hrs.

7. And we hear the MTB Down Hill event yesterday also provided some excitement. Tom Gilfedder is one of the quickest at descending the single track through ‘Sphincter Pucker’ at Lee Point Heights to the Super Highway at the Lee Point WW 11 Pill Box. 60 seconds is pretty swift.

8. Meanwhile Kona bound Nikki Roddie got through a huge block of training and can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. Go Nikki!

9. I've posted some Beach 2 Bridge photos on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/darwintriclub. Would you believe Flickr count is 28,000 views and there are 3200 photos up.

10. Well done to all members who participated in Beach 2 Bridge on Saturday evening. We have 5 of the 6 podium places ! Watch Surf Club website for full results.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN....

... you have lots of different tan lines
... you own lots of visors & caps
... you always have calluses on your toes & are too embarrassed to have a pedicure.

Cheers,
Robyn
