Our event this weekend at Lake Alexander is a reverse order triathlon. All those runners are rubbing their hands together in anticipation of being ahead of those pesky swimmers for a change !! It’s great fun and really mixes up the field. See you there !

Note:

1. All participants are to ensure they have at least one full water bottle on bike.

2. Events are sanctioned under Triathlon Australia Race Competition Rules and as such are NON DRAFTING (see attached for more information).

3. Roads open for this event. Competitors must stop if traffic lights are RED.

4. To assist at registration please bring membership card or copy of receipt.

1. I have it on good authority that some of the junior boys are already showing triathlon skills that surpass those of their dads.

2. Looking for something to do with the kids during the holidays? The Darwin Waterfront will be ‘the place to be’ with an exciting line up of events and activities with something different on offer every day of the school holidays from 1-8 October. 3. School Sport NT Triathlon entry for all kids 12+ now open online ($15) at www.triathlonnt.com.au . The biggest category is expected to be the novice and teams category. If you have or know of 12+ school age kids, encourage them to enter now. (You could encourage them by sharing your tri skills so nothing is unexpected).

4. Hey girls, looking for a pair of training togs, check out our Darwin Tri Club swimmers featured in the current uniform order.

5. Our club shirt could make an ideal surprise in someone’s Christmas stocking !

6. Tri Port Douglas Long Course included a long sand run (and stairs) x4. As if that wasn’t hard enough, the run was also long !

7. Ironman World Championships in Kona take place this weekend. Stu Fitch is our sole DTC representative this year. He’s registered and ready to race (Monday our time). Good luck Stu !

We have woken up to fantastic news from Europe this morning … Michelle Mitchell won Challenge-Barcelona Maresme (iron distance) overnight. Well done Michelle.

Our junior season got underway yesterday. The junior committee did a great job organising at what proved to be a somewhat difficult venue. The very enthusiastic juniors were lead through warm up with Bec Thyne. Bec also did a great job encouraging the new starters. Our thanks to all who assisted with our first junior event of the season.

OTHER NEWS:

1. Congratulations to Steve & Anna Goat who welcomed a new little tri baby to their family. Fynn Elliot was born in the early hours of Thursday 22 Sept. Mum & bub doing well.



2. Ice packs got a big workout over the weekend with a number of people tasting the tarmac.

3. The smashers are out and about again (grrrrr). Our vice president Dave Croser reports he came across 12 smashed bottles on the cycle path, between the signs to Pinelands and Palmerston and that there are a further 4 just up from the Caltex service station. Keep an eye out.

4. If you notice a problem with the road/path you are riding on, the vegetation, or anything else, go to the site below to report it, wherever you are in the NT. Your complaint will be channelled to the right area.

5. Bec Thyne is moving to Alice Springs this weekend. All the best with your new position Bec. Alice Springs Triathlon Club take note !!

6. Our Facebook page has 100 “LIKES” already. Don’t forget to “LIKE” us when you next check out the news and photos there.

7. Great to see so many of our members out training over the weekend. As well as all those events on our club calendar, it’s almost Noosa time, Shepparton 70.3, Canberra 70.3, and Phuket 70.3 are not far away, ditto IM WA and we have people signed up already for 2012 in IM Oz, IM Melbourne, Mooloolaba, Geelong, and Singapore to name but a few.


YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN …

… blisters, chaffing, road rash and sunburn (and the occasional black toe) are just a minor annoyance

… you have more water bottles than wine glasses in your cupboard

… you have Plan A, Plan B and “try not to die” race plans
