Robyn's E News 17 June 2013

Hi All,

With the later start time we were able to enjoy a sleep in first and then rug up for yesterday’s duathlon at Lee Point.  Hoodies and beanies were dragged out but by race start the conditions were just magic.

The format change to run, bike, run is well received at this time of year.  We welcomed a number of new members participating with us for the first time.  Great to have you on board.

Our thanks to RD Ron Griep for his work in setting up the course, much enjoyed by all.  Ronnie was out during the week measuring runs and the ride and double checking.  He also built an impressive run turn on the beach (with shades of Trevor the rubbish warrior about it).

Thanks also to all our wonderful volunteers who were on hand to help out - including the police officer who assisted with traffic control on the bike course.

1.  Race 1 Duathlon Series, Lee Point 2km run, 13km bike, 2km run

5.  Triathlon NT Junior Development Camp kicks off later this week with a number of our juniors involved along with youngsters from Katherine and Alice Springs.

6.  With a number of thefts happening over the weekend (including bikes), it’s a good time to remind members to be security conscious. Lock up well (cars, house, bikes etc) or lose it.  Unfortunately it seems to happen more at this time of year.

7.  Photos have been posted to our Facebook and even more are up at Photos.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN …

... you empathize with the road kill
... you are happy to discuss the connection between hydration and urine colour
... you view bike crashes as an opportunity to upgrade components

Cheers,
Robyn
