Hi All,

Happy New Year!

Here’s hoping you had a relaxing Christmas and New Year break.  For those of you still lucky enough to be away holidaying in cool climes, enjoy .. Darwin is a pretty warm place right now!

Many I know spent some time over the festive season working on their race itinerary for 2014 and have exciting tri plans ahead including our full calendar of club events.

We are entering 2014 with a whole new approach.  All our events now have online entry and you will no longer be able to just enter on the day.  Knowing how many to participants to cater for is going to assist our volunteers and streamline check in on race days.  Please spread the word regarding the need to enter online and also to pay attention to closing date details. We don’t want anyone to be disappointed.

OTHER NEWS:

1.  Darwin Long Course Triathlon date has been confirmed as Saturday 16 August 2014. 

2.  If you have friends wanting to “try a tri” this year – why not send them this link to more details.

3.  Ryoko Jones is currently at a tri camp in Thailand training with the likes of Chris McCormack and Jurgen Zack.

4.  As is usual at this time of year, we have been farewelling members who have decided to head down south.  We do also get to welcome some back to Darwin, including Julian Weller and Nathan Dwyer.

5.  Lots of mountain bike training happening.  Our off road tri early in February will be highly contested!

6.  Lake Alexander was closed for a period over Christmas & New Year but is now all clear and reopened for swimming.

7.  Pieter Jordaan was a dnf at the Albany Half Triathon in WA (results not yet available).  Piet got 30km into the ride before a broken spoke finished his day.

8.  Gutsy effort by Tori Sherrock over in New Zealand for her first half result. 

9. Renae McGarvie continues to clock up the kilometres in her preparation for the Tour de Cure ride in March.

10.  Good luck to John Thyne who will be competing in the Cadbury Marathon in Hobart this weekend.

11.  Don’t forget to give us a heads up if you or someone you know is racing away!
