Our 2017 Super Sprint Series got underway on Sunday in perfect conditions.  It was great to welcome our Come & Tri participants and good to hear we will be getting some new members in the future as all enjoyed our unique club atmosphere.

A big thank you to Lucas Hayden who took to RDing like a duck to water and did an awesome job in overseeing this event for us.  It was Lucas' first time as volunteer race director, and he received lots of help and encouragement as do all our RDs.

Our amazing volunteers also included Moira Wigley and Emily Moran on registration, ably assisted by Claire Labowitch & Craig Rachow; Jo Duncan shopped and chopped our post race refreshments, Elliott Bolitho manned hot corner for us and Moz Bronjes was on hand for technical duties.  Thanks to Gary Wall  we got those results out in super quick time.  Thank you!

We also appreciated the efforts of everyone who helped set up and pack away.  We were done and dusted and sipping lattes by 9am!!

Velodrome Use

1.  Please be aware that Darwin Cycling Club have athletes training for National Track Championships at the Velodrome.

Other News:

1.  There are a few Roster spots to be filled for our upcoming events.  We really would like to get those sorted asap.  Take a look at the Calendar and let us know where you can help.  We do ask that all members volunteer to do a Roster duty at least once each season.

2.  Hearing the number of members heading for Busso 70.3 in December has risen over the past couple of weeks.

4.   Rachel Bament is among the Darwinites heading for the Sydney Marathon this weekend.  Good luck!

5.  Seems we have heaps heading over for the Tour de Timor starting next week.   Stay upright you all, and enjoy!

6.  Good luck to our members taking part in the Mitchell Street Mile and/or Criterium on Sunday.

7.  On drafting .... we know our course is a little tight, that traffic impends the flow at times, that there are a couple of sharp turns and speed bumps ... but ... how about we try and keep Super Sprint #2  draft free - safety and fairness are the aims here.

8.  Our co-ordinator Rena Walker put on a swim run activity for our juniors on Sunday and they had a ball. Thanks also to Tatiane Kelly for helping out.  Our next junior event takes place on 15 Oct 2017, pop it in your calendars.

Happy to report that our  very first TRIFEST, held weekend before last, was a huge success.
Our sincere thanks go to our hard working TRIFEST Race Director Tony Cox for overseeing this event for us.
Tony was assisted greatly that weekend by Brian Gallagher and Elliott Bolitho who helped out with set up and swim course marking.
Also helping out were our wonderful volunteers on registration, Jac Crofton and Sally Broadley; on Fruit | Ice we had Chris Monahan, Kerry Sullivan and Deanne Jewell; Rob Spiers & Barry Sullivan manned the far road bike turnaround; aid station angels included Spy, Christine Dames, Glenn Grant, Joe Librio, Brett, David Hancock, Belinda Townend & Ange Librio; finish line numbers were taken mostly by Deanne and Rena Walker assisted with presentations.
We sincerely appreciate our amazing volunteers including all those who pitched in to help in various other ways as required!
President of Triathlon NT Aaron McMahon was on hand to present the awards for the 2017 NT Long Course Triathlon Championships. Thanks to Aaron for coming down to Lake Bennett and to Triathlon NT for supporting the event.

Our friends at Wicked NRG and Cafe Central contributed to our lucky draw prizes and we'd also like to acknowledge their support of TRIFEST.

Junior News:

Rena reports our next junior event will be this Sunday 10 Sept 17, also at Lake Alexander with an earlier 7am start time to align with the Super Sprint event (Please be there by 06:45 for registration).
Juniors are to register and pay on the day but, if you are planning to attend, please shoot Rena a quick email in advance so she has approximate numbers for catering purposes

PLEASE feel free to pass this info on to friends who you think will be interested in coming along, the more the merrier.
Fee for participation: Members $3 and Non-Members $10
Please note: Club membership for juniors does not auto renew.  To check out and pay membership please click here.  You will notice Darwin Triathlon Club portion of the membership has stayed the same as last year.
The kids will be doing a "swim" run event while the adults are competing in the super sprint event.  Please bring goggles and running shoes, no bikes this time.  If your child needs assistance and close supervision in the water we ask that a parent be ready to be involved in the water activities. We will be in shallow water so if your child can't swim well they can walk, blow bubbles, kick with parent assistance etc.
We will be running some fun water and land based activities for the younger and less confident kids.  Then they will do a couple of micro events with the 'swim' and run distances adjusted according to their ability.  The older kids 9+ can choose to do slightly longer distances according to your child's confidence and capability.
Rena likes to hear from parents and kids if you have any feedback on how we can improve the events we are running, especially if you have any new ideas we can try.  If you would like more information on our junior events please feel free to email Rena at

2.  Remember to bring snacks, water etc.  The bore water used down there is not the tastiest. We transport water down for use on aid stations.  Please ensure you bring enough water to fill your water bottles for the bike leg.  There is a small koisk shop at the resort with very limited stock.

3.  Please note all Lake users other than competitors, are now required to wear life jackets.  There is also a $5 insurance fee charged for Lake use.  Those staying at the Resort have this covered in their accommodation, and we will be providing a list of our competitors and covering this on their behalf.  Any other day users will need to attend Reception and organise this individually.

4  There are various accommodation options (including camping, dorm, and resort rooms)  available at Lake Bennett Resort if you are wanting to stay down and enjoy the tranquility.  Let them know you are coming for the triathlon and want the triathlon rate.
