Hi All,
Magic
morning out at Hidden Valley yesterday with an amazing sunrise over the
straight and a fantastic course set up by our volunteer Race Director Matt
Brearley.
Athletes
were treated to Matt’s unique style of race brief and his attention to
detail. No getting lost in the Hidden Valley hills!!
Our thanks
to Matt who once again raised the bar, and to all those wonderful volunteers
who helped out – without your assistance our events couldn’t go ahead and we
really appreciate all that you contribute to our club.

COMMITTEE NEWS:
1. Due
to relocations we have had to fill some casual vacancies on the
committee. We welcome Chloe Kay (secretary), John Arrigo (equipment),
Luke Hansen (Juniors) & Justin Tranter (committee).
2.
Progress continues on our 2013/2014 Calendar thanks largely to Tony Cox.
Dates and venues are being double checked before the calendar is posted to our
website. Keep an eye out for a call for volunteers to fill roster
positions.
3.
Belinda Birk heads up our Sponsorship subcommittee and is busy scouring for
grant & other opportunities.
4.
Belinda is also leading the charge to improve our facilities and has attended
meetings with DCC along with Surf Lifesaving.
5.
DCC recently reconsidered their recommendation to scrap a proposed bike lane on
Lee Point Road. The outcome is positive and that section of the proposed
bike lane will be incorporated in the redevelopment.
6.
Preparations for our Presentation Night Dinner on 10 August 2013 are
progressing. Tickets are on sale here. We are seeking some financial
assistance to offset costs – if you are in a position to assist please email.
7. Our
website will shortly contain a Member Register page. Current members will
be able to have their small business details (logo & contact) advertised
until 31 December for the small sum of $50. Great advertising opportunity
and will help answer all those questions – eg do we have a plumber in the club,
where do I go to get my bike serviced, who can mow my lawn, where do I get a
massage etc. We will forward details of how to get on board soon.
8.
Work also continues on our equipment policy. We are undertaking an audit
of our equipment and developing a price list and policy for those times when 3rd
parties request use of our equipment.

OTHER NEWS:
1. No
names, but who left a bag at Bali International Airport and had to go back and
find it? Good news – bag retrieved, intact!
2. We
hear traffic was once again pretty horrendous during the Bali Tri.
Organisers attempt to sort each year and employ some 400 police and officials
but the locals are locals! All part of the charm of the “triathlon of the
soul” which has continued to develop and attract more and more local
participation.
3.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN …
… you
regard food as fuel
… you
tell your IRON Mate that you are heading out on a 4-6 hour ride or 2-3 hour run
and he/she just smiles & says "have fun"
Cheers,
