Robyn's E News 5 Jan 2011

Hi All,

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas & New Year, wherever you celebrated. As usual, we had members holidaying (or in some cases working) around the country and overseas. Some have been taking the opportunity for a complete R & R break while others have been clocking big training kilometres and a few even managed to compete in various multisport events.

Word is that you have signed up for a variety of events in 2011 with a large number targeting Ironman 70.3 Singapore in March, the Challenge events in Cairns in May and Ironman WA next December. Others are down for the Olympic Distance events taking place in Mooloolaba, Geelong and Sydney to name a few.

On the home front, we have a shed load of events coming up including the Arafura Games Triathlon in Darwin early in May.

Entries for Arafura Tri are coming in (www.arafuragames.nt.gov.au) already. Entry is free. Please read the entry criteria carefully and note that to compete in the Arafura Games Triathlon, all Australian competitors must be TA members & you are required to give your membership number at time of entry.

This advice has been posted to the Arafura Games website for weeks now. If you aren't yet a club member but wish to compete in the Arafura Games Triathlon in May we encourage you to join now at https://www.securedvirtualnet.com/Sma/Triath/ . No exceptions will be made to this condition and as the event falls in our 2010/2011 membership period you may as well derive the maximum benefit and participate at our club events in the lead up.

We would like to enlist your assistance to promote the event in the Asian region. If you have a tri friend in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, New Guinea, Thailand, New Caledonia, Fiji etc please encourage them to enter the Arafura Games Triathlon. You may be in a position to offer a homestay ... and that would be fantastic !
