Photo: Getting underway for the ride at the mtb triathlon

Hi All,

Our mountain bike triathlon was all it was billed to be ... tough & muddy but lots of fun ! If you weren't there, suggest you make sure you look at having access to a mtb for next year's edition, it is a real challenge. RD Aaron Caden and an awesome band of volunteers put a lot of effort into ensuring our safety and also to marking the course extremely well so there was no way we could get lost. OTHER NEWS:

1. Media Watch: x 2 attached.

2. Monica Stewart heads to Geelong today for the Olympic Distance age group event next weekend. Please wish Mon luck if you bump into her before she flies out.

3. Chad Anderson will be in action in Geelong as well. He's doing the Elite Sprint Distance event. Good luck Chad.

4. Suggest securing your bikes well. It appears there may be a group concentrating on stealing high end bikes at the moment.

5. Entry for Challenge Wanaka (21 Jan 2012) in NZ open tomorrow.

6. Lee Wilson is now Level 2 Tri Coach. Congrats to Lee.

7. There are a couple of members unable to run at the moment who would like to team up for the upcoming sprint triathlons. So if you aren't swimming and/or riding for some reason please let us know and we will put you in touch.

8. If you happen to dnf at any of our events, it would be appreciated if you could please inform the timekeepers & ask them to make a note on the timing sheets.

9. Some of the age groups in the pointscore are pretty crowded. With our major triathlons about to start there could be even more changes. Experience says there is always lots of movement in the pointscore as the sprint series progresses.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN ...

... you were on the sidelines on Saturday wishing you had a mountain bike
... you have lycra hanging under the fan
... you can handle stinky shoe smell

Safe Training,
Cheers,
Robyn
