Hi All,
Duathlon
was the perfect format for our event at the weekend and given the number of
athletes who turned up in long sleeves, it was a great way to warm up on a
chilly dry season morning.
Our sincere
thanks to RD Barry Sullivan and his crew of volunteers for a job well done - we
received lots of positive post-race comments about the course and the
location.
The guys
from Blue Cycles were also on hand. They are a multi skilled bunch and
were pitching in across our event. Our thanks to Matt & co for their
continued support of our club.
At this
time of year many of our interstate readers get in touch to tell us to “suck it
up” weatherwise and point out how cold it is where they are, but they also add
how much they miss racing up here especially in the dry. Great to hear
from you all!
RESULTS:
1.
Duathlon, 3.5km run, 15km bike, 2km run
Male:
Brett Verity 45:23 Female: Hannah Johnston 50:06

JUNIOR UPDATE:
Due to the
cold weather the swim leg has been cancelled for Sunday's junior event.
The event
location has now also been moved to the gun turret near the war museum at East
Point.
For those
who are not familiar with the location, just keep going down Alec Fong Lim
Drive past Lake Alexander to the end. The road splits outside the war museum
and we will be down the right hand side at the end.
As this is
the last junior event for the season we hope that everyone can make it.
See you
there at 7 for a 7:30 start.

Good luck to our members participating in the Fannie
Bay Swim this weekend. Moira Wigley and
Brian Gallagher are among a select foursome who
have completed every one of the Fannie Bay Swims. We wish them good luck
at the 10th anniversary event.
6. We
wish Jane Perkin all the best with her interstate move. Massage4Life has
been a valued supporter of our club and Jane’s magic hands will be missed by
many of our members.
7. On
the road to recovery – good to see: Col Smith participating in a team at
the weekend and Jason Cook back home and back in the pool.
8.
Last but most important: we are now calling for volunteers to fill
essential spots on our new calendar. Please check the Darwin Triathlon
Club events shown in red here
and email darwintriclub@gmail.com
with your preferred roster spot/s. We will allocate on a first in best
dressed basis so be quick.
9. To
proceed, our events require those volunteer spots to be filled. If you
can all help out even just once, we will be well and truly covered for
2014/2015.
Cheers,
Robyn
