E News 15 October 2014

Hi All,

Did the thunder wake you last night?  Running this morning was bliss after the downpour, hope you got a splash where you live!

It looks like many of you have taken the opportunity to participate in Ride2Work Day and perhaps grab a bite at the City of Darwin or Palmerston breakfasts along the way. Certainly a nice cool morning for it.

Awesome to see so many of you turn out for our triathlon on Sunday and even better to see the smiles at the finish line!  A special thumbs up to those who finished their first ever tri with us!

A huge vote of thanks go to Emma Cook & Jason Cook, our volunteer race directors who were on the job early setting up for us and also to all those who helped out on the morning. Their efforts were really appreciated by all who competed.

Helping us out again were the gang from Blue Cycles.  The new event van was on display and had rego pumping to the beat from early on. Thanks for all the help Blue Cycles NT!

COMMITTEE NEWS:

1.  Our new committee continues to be very active and many of you have taken time to give feedback, thank you.

2.  You asked for it, and President Tony Cox hinted on Sunday that it may happen, so it’s great to confirm that we will indeed be adding some extra events to our calendar.

3.  The first (subject to final approval & volunteers) is another 300/13/3 to take place at Lake Alexander on Sunday 26 Oct 2014.

4.  Do keep your eye on our calendar for other additions in the pipeline – we hope to add an extra triathlon in November and a pair of Off Road Tri events in Feb.

4.  Some angst has been felt over the midday Friday cut off for entry to our events so it will be great news to them that we are extending our cut off time to midnight Friday.  But why wait until the last minute, it will assist our volunteer rego & timing team if you continue to enter early.

5.  Other good news regarding entry when the system will shortly move to auto fill for your details.

6.  We are progressing the possibility of a paid race director position further down the track.

7.  In the meantime we urgently need to get our volunteer roster positions filled so those events already on the calendar can go ahead.  Take a peek at the calendar and if you can help fill a vacancy email darwintriclub@gmail.com

8.  And last but not least, we are told our Pointscore is apparently being missed by you all.  It’s not far away!
