Hi All,
A great
turnout of competitors and supporters at Lake Alexander yesterday. We had
a bit of humidity kick in towards the end of the week but the decision to allow
wetties was still much appreciated, especially by our leaner (read, feel the
cold) members.
Our race
director Simon Cruickshank and a horde of volunteer helpers did a marvellous
job to stage the event for our members. Sincere thanks to Simon and the
team.
We welcomed
a group of new members at our event yesterday. Some were familiar
returning faces, and others were participating in their first event with our
club. A big welcome to all, it was great to see you all enjoying your tri
experience.

The Fannie Bay Swim Classic takes place Sunday 1 July 2012 at midday. For
more info and or to enter the 2.1km Classic or the short course 1.2km,

2.
Ron Griep is sporting some heavy road pizza as a result of a spill on Saturday
morning. We wish him a speedy recovery.
3.
Steer clear of Korgan Hucent and Dave Croser, both are the latest to have the
sniffles. They were standing well clear yesterday (or was that, everyone
was giving them a wide berth?).
4.
Helen Bretten was up from Katherine to compete at the weekend. Rocked up
to the race with a smile a mile wide ~ a new bike does it every time!
5.
Who set up a big lead in the swim and then dropped a bike shoe over the first
speed bump and had to stop and retrieve it?
6.
Bertram Birk was spotted yesterday enjoying the playground equipment.
7. Please
congratulate David McLeod, he scored his first club event win yesterday.
The form he displayed in the short course indicated the long would have been
the better option.
8. We
farewell Jac Crofton and Nic French this week. They are heading to Victoria.
Nic is pretty rapt at the thought of having a large calendar of duathlon events
to choose from. We are sure the Top End connection is very strong and we
will see them back occasionally.
9.
Ali & Stu Fitch are Philippines bound where Ali has race commitments.
10.
Michelle Mitchell has headed over to the US.
11.
Matt King has finished the Tour of Toowoomba with his new team.
12. It’s
the 6th Bali International Triathlon this weekend.
13.
The Bali course reverts back to the original course this year and cuts out the
tougher hills. With the change of location of the swim start, the 800m beach
run also goes. The Bali bike blessing is unique and a must do.
14.
For the first couple of years, the Bali Tri had bike racks made of bamboo.
15. A
new Ironman 70.3 has been announced for Australia. Mandurah in WA will host the
event in October. More info here.
YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN …
… you unknowingly
start stretching during client meetings
… your
"retired" running shoes are only four months old
… all your
underwear is “Coolmax”
Safe training,
Cheers,
