Hi All,
Hope you
are enjoying your long weekend wherever you may be spending it.
Appears
half of Darwin travelled to Katherine for the Ultra Challenge yesterday.
From all reports it was a great event (again) and the new course got thumbs
up. Great to see so many club members having a go at this iconic event.
KUC and
next weekend’s ride are ideal lead in events for our Finlay’s NT Long Course at
Lake Bennett. We are expecting to see some more teams enter from the KUC
survivors. Entry online here.

OTHER NEWS:
1.
How did she survive? The woman involved in the rollover on Tiger Brennan
Drive on Saturday morning blew .073 and was reaching for a cigarette lighter on
the floor. Take care out there while driving & riding folks, you
never know who you are sharing the road with.
2.
Have to feel for Emma Moffatt. Crashing on the first lap of the bike is
not how she would have expected her day to pan out.
3. In
my humble opinion triathlon is an individual sport and I wasn’t disappointed
that the GB team tactics didn’t work out in the women’s event.
4.
Teams results to be confirmed for the Ultra Challenge but we hear last year’s
individual winner Derek Cross, along with Justin Tranter and Dale Berk were
in the fastest team.
5.
Pete Brady is officially a KUC legend after completing yesterday’s event.
Pete had some mechanical issues but battled through to complete his 10th
straight Ultra in 9.14.29.
6.
John Arrigo heads for US today. He competes in Ironman New York at the
weekend.
7. Michelle
Mitchell is on the star studded start list for this inaugural event. Good
luck John & Michelle from us all.
8. We
hear Michelle Wu had a couple of punctures at IM 70.3 Philippines yesterday but
finished off with a blistering run. All that training in Darwin helped in
the heat & humidity at Cebu.
9.
Congratulations to Melissa & Scott Bevis. Pippa Grace was born on Friday
morning just before noon. Healthy weight, 4.02kg; quick labour, 1:40h. Mum and
bub are doing really well.
10.
Watching the women’s triathlon made me appreciate, even more, the “never give
up” attitude of (most) triathletes. Groff’s fight back to the field and
that super sprint finish, stuff of goose bumps.
11.
Blue Watt (traitor that he is) has a personal connection with the Brownlee
boys. We will have to forgive that he is hoping for a Brownlee 1,2
tomorrow. Blue will be heading to Hyde Park very early to get a good
viewing spot.
12.
TA are hoping for a BBC finish tomorrow night … Brad, Ben and Courtney!
Good luck guys.
YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN …
… you were
shouting at your TV during the Olympic Triathlon sprint finish
… you are
hoping that there is an Oz athlete at pointy end of the men’s race
… you hope
all that Olympic swim viewing makes up for missing the real thing
Safe training,
Cheers,
Robyn
