E NEWS 23 MARCH 2017  Our Cyclone Blanche delayed Sprint Series finally got underway at Lake Alex in perfect conditions (the weather gods smiled on us) on Sunday.  What an awesome lot of volunteers (members & friends) we had helping out.  A huge thank you to Race Director Brian Gallagher who was up with the sparrows and delivered a great event for our members to enjoy. Feedback was thumbs up all round! Thanks also to David Hancock who helped set up buoys, signage; Jac Crofton & Brad George who handled event check in; Tina Sanderson who organised our post event fruit & ice; Gary Wall who was one of the first there & last to leave, towing the trailer, setting up the timing system etc; Julie Gallagher & Megan Gallagher helped with our drinks station; Belinda Townend (pictured) marshalled our hot corner; Daryl Stanley, Allan Barrett & Luke Fronsko were there till stumps; and thanks also to those who pitched in where needed, we really do appreciate your help.   The assistance of our traffic management, surf lifesaving & St John Ambulance crews was also tops!! Hi All,

Well done to all our members who competed in the Ray White Bayside NT Sprint Triathlon and the junior events at the weekend. 

There is no doubt this event just keeps on getting better and better every year.

We thank club member Korgan Hucent and the team at Ray White Bayside for their continued support of this Triathlon NT event, which also acts as Race #3 of our Sprint Series.

An added bonus, the post race bbq provided by Loan Market Bayside was a huge hit.

Also a loud shout out to Triathlon NT’s event committee headed up by Ange Castle, the RD (TNT President James Geddes), the junior development team guided by Tim Ellison, the Blue Cycles NT crew who were on hand to help out and to all the many wonderful volunteers who worked their butts off on Saturday. Congrats to you all on an amazing Super Saturday of Tri.

OTHER NEWS:

1.  Ray White Bayside NT Sprint was the final selection points event for the Triathlon Australia Age Group Team for ITU World Sprint Triathlon C’ships being held in Chicago (15-20 Sept).

2.  If you are interested in representing the green and gold, you may wish to consider submitting an expression of interest for inclusion in the team.  With 20 selected in each age category you still have a good chance of making an overseas team, even with one event.  Interested?  Read the Selection Criteria. EOI close Friday 17 April 2015.

9.  Notice of bike path closure:  To allow for works to continue on the Stuart Highway/Temple Terrace intersection upgrade and maintain a safe access route for cyclists, a detour has been put in place as of 14 April 2015.  The cycle path detour is fully sealed and located approximately 50m further back from the Stuart Highway. It will allow cyclists to continue to travel the same route, without travelling close to the construction site. It is anticipated that the detour will remain in place for the duration of the project.

Hi All,

With even the BoM calling our current weather a heatwave, do make extra sure you are staying well hydrated.

While I was away, Race #1 of the Sprint Series got underway and it was good to hear that so many of you were out tri-ing.  A big thank you to volunteer RD Brian Gallagher for his efforts with this event and also to all those who helped out on the day, including Blue Cycles NT.

You may have noticed that some of our upcoming events need roster positions filled. 

To enable those events to go ahead we do need those positions filled so please check the calendar here and if you can assist let us know asap.

IMPORTANT ENTRY INFO:

1.  Entries are now coming in for Sprint #2 and word about another Come & Tri opportunity on the same day, is also spreading.

We ask that you take 5 seconds out of your busy day to read below to ensure you enter the correct category.

2.  Members enter either the sprint (750/26/5) or short option (300/13/3) as individual or teams.

Cost for individual members for either distance is $10.

3.  The "Come & Tri" event is for non - members wishing to try our sport before joining our club.

The entry fee for Come & Tri individual participants is $30 (this includes race fee, ODM fees and a contribution to the added sanctioning cost incurred by the club to conduct an event allowing non - members)

4.  To clarify: Our Sprint distance (750/26/5) is NOT open to non-members.

5.  A number of you also left entry for last event until the very last minute then encountered some difficulty with payment. This was out of our control so we suggest you enter early and avoid the stress.
