Robyn's E News 29 July 09

Hi All,

Can you believe it's almost the end of July? That means the NT Long Course Championship is just two and a half weeks away ! Hope you have your entry in and that training is going well.

It also means that you have only 2 more days to renew or join Darwin Triathlon Club for 2009/2010 at the early bird discount rate. I've attached the how to join online again so you can do it immediately and not miss out. (Having difficulty, email and I'm happy to assist where possible - it may just mean you have moved or changed email addresses to that currently in the system.)

Check out the For Sale / Wanted section in this edition for some great bike bargains. Parents of juniors may also want to take a peek as there are a number of smaller bikes included.

4. Your Dag of Year (currently held by Phill Hatty) and Best Bike Crash (Rosie Sullivan) nominations for the last year are requested. We need your help in choosing our Dag of the Year for 2008/2009. If you have someone in mind, please email with a brief outline of the "daggy" deed done, when, where etc. All nominations are confidential, so feel free to spill the beans on those among us who have had a "daggy" experience during the year. Criteria for Bike Crash award is self explanatory, so think back and let us know who came off and where. Send to darwintriclub@bigpond.com .

OTHER NEWS:

1. Tour question: 21 days of racing, over 100 riders, feed zones on almost every stage ... did anyone see a banana?

2. Don't forget that the velodrome will not be available for use between 6 August 09 and 23 August 09 (being used for a Tracks dance production).

3. Sophie Hawken and Kim Stevens are expecting a visit from the stork in January. Sophie thinks her world is about to change !

4. Many of you have been asking about items of club uniform. We usually operate on a pre pay system and only order what is required. Very few items are kept as stock (usually only get extra if we are almost at minimum order numbers) so that the club doesn't get stuck with them. I'm currently looking into sourcing club bathers, nicks & tri tops etc from a new supplier & possibly going back to standard "Darwin Triathlon Club" printing. A quick indication by return email of what items you would likely order & approx sizes would be appreciated. Also an indication of your price range may help negotiations.

5. Interest in the Tour de Timor (www.tourdetimor.com ) continues to grow and a number of our members are locked in already.
YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN ...

... you know that everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for the next
... you open & read E News before a long string urgent work messages
... you need directions or assistance so you approach the first person who comes along in a tri t-shirt or cap or carrying a water bottle

Enjoy the long stuff,
Cheers,
Robyn
