OTHER NEWS:

1. Congratulations to new parents, Ariane & Matt McCormack (Katherine) on the birth of their twins, Benjamin and Sophie.

2. Emma Snowsill has withdrawn from the Gold Coast final leg of the World Triathlon Series.

3. You may have noticed things have been somewhat "quieter" at events of late since a certain guy with a French accent left us. Here's a Jerome update for your enjoyment :
"Dear all, it has already been 4 weeks since I left Darwin and I did not have much time to think about it, but I am sure that it will hit me down the road!

After touring along the French coasts for two weeks I am back between Paris and Normandy where the weather is similar to...pommy land! I managed to injured myself running bare foot on a sand beach for over one hour to impress Marianne (my partner) and her hot girlfriend (any single aussie bloke that likes blond French girl, Micko? Probably not you need to train for the World's! Paul?...too romantic for a true Aussie!)...three days later I could not walk and the two girls were not too impressed! I must forget my Aussie side and become French and arrogant again...

I've been doing daily gym or swimming for the past two weeks and my torso has become far too developed for a former triathlete... Somehow switching to French was not too difficult despite swearing and apologising in Aussie slang... Apart from this, everything is great and I'll be in La Reunion in 7 days time after a short trip to Belgium (the country of fries, not France!) for a seminar.

All the best to Kyle and Chad for the World's. Chad please stay away from your bike until the race! We want you to wear the club's color there, not white and pizza!

Cheers from France and the French Channel (the English lost it since I got back)...Jerome".

4. If you think the face on the cover of the latest Intensity mag looks familiar you are right. Ali Fitch features in this issue.

5. Update on club uniform: orders are in with both Scody and Orca. Hoping to have Orca back by end of next week.

6. Watch the Flickr page as I have been getting some more photos (thanks to John and Peta) up from the NT Long Course.

7. Rumour mill has it that the latest in bike technology has made an appearance on the streets. Nice!

8. Our members and former members pop up all over the world doing some fantastic things. Latest is Andrew Griffin who is about to paddle the English Channel, the busiest shipping lane in the world including, container ships and super tankers, while also battling strong currents, rough water, the legendary English summer weather, hypothermia and jellyfish… Imagine paddling for 10 hours straight, over 70km, from England to France and back.

The purpose of the challenge is to raise money for the Leaside Educational Trust based in East London. The Trust offers a vital outlet using the outdoors and sport for the energy and enthusiasm of under privileged kids where traditional teaching methods often fail.

In an area where crime, poor housing, low academic attainment and unemployment are rife, the Leaside Educational Trust provides opportunities for younger under-privileged people to shine through sport and the outdoors, particularly through paddling.

It would be Greatly appreciated if you would be willing to support the Challenge and the Leaside Educational Trust by making a donation at:
