Fannie Bay Christmas Bash

Hi All,

It was a busy weekend for triathletes and we are finding that checking the BOM is now a must before heading out (for training or social reasons).

Our Christmas function at Lake Alexander on Saturday was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed. The late arvo black clouds gave some cause for concern but the storm rattled through and cleared in plenty of time. The sunset over Fannie Bay provided a spectacular backdrop and it was great to kick back and relax in such a beautiful location. Thanks to Kylie Sheffield, Nerida Godfrey and Jane Marie Kerslake for their efforts in organising the catering - the cheesecake & ice-cream was voted 10/10 by adults and kids alike.

The juniors had an aquathlon at the Ski Club yesterday morning. I love watching the kids, they are so enthusiastic ! NT Elite Cycles (Shop 6, 130 University Ave, Durack) are proud sponsors of the junior 09/10 series. Winner of the $50 NT Elite Cycles voucher lucky draw yesterday was Jake Van Dam. Thanks to all the wonderful volunteers at this event.

OTHER NEWS:

1. A club t shirt is in the pipeline. Watch for more details in the New Year.

2. Ali Croser is counting her lucky stars after being clipped by a car rear view mirror early on Saturday morning. Ali was stopped on Dick Ward Drive and adjusting her light at the time. Scary stuff and being only a week out from IM WA not good timing for her. Our speedy recovery wishes to Ali.

3. Good luck to all our members doing Ironman Western Australia on Saturday. As well as Ali Croser, Ali Fitch, Stu Fitch, and Kathy McKay will be among the huge competitor field. Heath Porter unfortunately had to withdraw recently due to injury.

4. After watching them in action at the junior event yesterday Lachie, Bella and Jack Hatty look to be in good form for the junior splash n dash in Phuket this weekend.

5. Good luck to Shaye and Phill Hatty who are competing in the Laguna Phuket Triathlon.

6. Mooloolaba has sold out. A wait list is now open.

7. Erica Reeve and Aaron Buncle are moving from Canberra to the Solomon Islands early next year. Erica will be taking up a position as Maternal and Child Health Nutritionist with the Solomon Islands Health Ministry.

8. The stork appears to have been delayed (again). Our mums to be are getting impatient.

9. It's that time of year when we farewell some of our members who are moving on. Paul Bell has issued an invitation to the Ski Club this Friday 4 Dec 09 6pm until ??? for farewell drinks. Paul Bell and Amanda Donohoe will be there. Both are heading down south soon.

10. Bali International Triathlon date 20 June 2010.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN...

... nobody believes you when you say "never again" OR "I've retired".
... your car has at least one water bottle on the floor
... you have at least one "go faster" item on your Christmas wish list

Safe training,
Cheers,
Robyn
