Peta in action at Race 1 Aquathlon Series, Nightcliff Pool

Hi All,

There were sightings all over Darwin & surrounds during the weekend with loads of people out training. Yesterday, while Chad and Kyle were going through their paces in the cooler Canberra conditions, many of us were slogging out long runs and sweating up a storm !

Great to see we have a number of new members from those who came and "tri -ed" Race 1 of the Aquathlon Series. A big welcome to you all.

Joining Darwin Triathlon Club (or Alice Springs Triathlon Club) is easy ... online at https://www.securedvirtualnet.com/Sma/Triath/
Our $110 senior and $40 junior (19 and under) membership is best value around.

One dayers (ODM) are available so that people can "tri it" once, maybe twice, but the better value for bucks option is to sign up. Joining usually then becomes the motivator people need to participate more often in events and squads and to fully enjoy belonging to Darwin Triathlon Club.

5. Media hound: http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2010/01/25/118301_ntsport.html Congratulations Chad.

6. Canberra spies tell us that Chad looked great and put together a great race (obviously). Also that Kyle was up there after the bike, even with a 3 min drafting penalty.

7. Stuart Young had a stop start ride at the weekend. Two punctures within minutes really doesn't make for a good day on the bike.

8. The guys going down to Hobart for the Police and Emergency Services Games triathlon are training hard.

9. Weekend form guide: Jac Crofton was on fire on the bike; Russell Peacock was getting in some extra bike time; Bec Thyne is in great run form; James Geddes is bopping along nicely; Phil Blumberg was making 1km run repeats look easy; Lee Wilson was checking out Ali Croser's calfs up close on the bike; Loz Stephenson was back having a run; Tara Worby is strong with a capital "S" on the bike; Col Smith was first to coffee and she who will remain nameless was shuffling along & couldn't run to get out of her own way !

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN ...

... you come across a fellow triathlete or cyclist stopped on the side of the road and you ask if they need help rather than ride on by
... asked to wash the car in 32 degree heat, you say that its too hot to do that (and you mean it) and then an hour later you go on a 80km ride because its so nice out
... you have a $4000 bike only months old, but you are still looking at bike adverts with interest

Safe Training,
Cheers,
Robyn
