Photo: Lined up and ready to go at Palmerston for Race 1 Sprint Series

Hi All,

Wow, what a tri - filled weekend ! Race 1 of our Sprint Series got underway at Palmerston. A few of you heard the rain and elected to hit the snooze button.... big mistake, the race got underway on schedule & the weather was perfect for racing. Our thanks to RD Barry Sullivan for his meticulous attention to detail and the many volunteers who assisted with the event. Great racing was the order of the day.

Our latest Ironman and 70.3 finishers battled it out in tough conditions in China yesterday and along with many of you, I was glued to athlete trackers and phones all day following their progress. Congratulations to all, top efforts.

7. Word from China is that the conditions were tough especially when the wind got up. The 70.3 competitiors are in awe of those going twice that distance.

8. Triathlon NT president Dave McLeod is our latest member to here the words "You are an Ironman" for the first time. Congrats to Dave on a great effort.

9. Dave was attacked by a rock wielding man near Kooringal flats the day he was to fly out & suffered a badly bruised arm. He reported the incident to police. They obviously didn't find the man as NT News reports this morning that a similar attack happened at the same location yesterday with a member of the public stepping in to save a terrified tourist.

10. Baby Sparrow attended her first triathlon yesterday ! Wasn't a good day for dad Todd who punctured on the bike.

11. The lead car took some of the pros in the Abu Dhabi Triathlon off course during their 200km bike. Ouch.

12. Age groupers volunteering for the ITU race in Sydney (elite only) on 11 April 2010, well be guaranteed a start in the age group field in the 2011 event.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN...

... you realise the learning process never ceases in triathlon—or at least it shouldn’t
... you raced yesterday and are still looking forward to your training today
... you are at a formal function, check the time and realise you have your running watch on (and you don't bat an eyelid).

Safe Training,
Cheers,
Robyn
