Hi All,

Are you ready for a real Territory triathlon experience this weekend? Lake Bennett is a must do race on our calendar and the location and late afternoon start time ensures we will have a very different tri experience to that of our usual events. It's our big club event of the year and we hope to see you all there.

You usually just roll out of bed and head down bleary eyed to Lake Alex. Doesn't work for this one. It's a bit of a drive to Lake Bennett so factor in the extra travel time. Check your gear before starting out - it's way too far to dash back for a forgotten helmet, shoes or goggles.

We suggest you also pay attention to hydration prior to this afternoon event.

If you aren't booked at the Resort you will need to park outside (we are using part of the resort carpark as transition). Please consider your fellow competitors and ensure that you park well off the road.

On the way in, it will help if you pass the Resort gates before parking. Consider the safety of fellow cyclists and runners prior to parking.

RESULTS:

OTHER NEWS:

1. This one is a warning to members: Windtrainers - most brands of wind trainers require a certain shaped rear wheel skewer to be securely held into the windtrainer frame, failure to do so can result in the bike falling out of the frame. Most standard skewers that come originally with the bike will not fit properly, If you have any doubts you can take the rear wheel skewer into Cyclezone to be checked if it's suitable. CYCLEZONE is located at 6/41 Cavenagh St, Darwin (OPPOSITE DARWIN GPO) Contact: 8981 4436

2. News from Jerome Bosmans is that he hasn't touched his bike in 14 months. Keeping fit though and as it's Arafura time, Jerome is missing being part of the excitement. We did try to talk him into coming back for it !!

3. Many of you will remember Paul Drossou. He is over in Morocco competing in the Marathon des Sables. It's a six day/243 km endurance race across the Sahara Desert. Go Drossou!!

4. We somehow managed to send off the Sheffield's with a dose of low system / cyclone watch weather. We wish Paul all the best in his new position in Canberra.

5. Flickr has been updated with photos of the juniors final event (20 Mar) and the Ray White Darwin NT Sprint Distance Championships and also the NT Junior Triathlon Championships.

6. We have a number of members heading for Sydney (swimming in front of the Opera House & riding over the Harbour Bridge) to compete in the final of the 3 race Australian Triathlon Series. They include Belinda Birk, Margaret Black, Bertram Birk, Monica Stewart, Ron Griep, Jamie Tomlinson, Brian Hannon, David McLeod, Jodie McLeod, Jane Marie Kerslake and Angelika Hannon. Good luck to all. They will be watching some of the world's best Olympic distance triathletes in action in the ITU World Cup event also being staged.

7. Monica Stewart will be looking to stitch up an age group series win in Sydney following a 1st in Geelong and a 2nd in Mooloolaba. Go Mon!

8. Some of you may be interested in the Tour de Bintan (11-13 Nov 2011) more info at www.tourdebintan.com

9. Don't forget when you are entering interstate & overseas events to put your address as DARWIN and your suburb postcode. It's a two way thing, lets people "down south" know that we do triathlon in Darwin and encourages them to attend events such as the Arafura Games. (Also makes it a lot easier for those of us tracking results!).

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN ...

... you do "catch up" in the pool
... your sunglasses are no longer big and round or change colour
... as well as your significant other, there is a roadbike in the bedroom.

Safe Training,
Cheers,
Robyn
