Hi All,

With Christmas party rounds already commenced, it must mean that 2011 is rapidly drawing to a close.

We ease into our Christmas/New Year break with the commencement of our very popular swim/run format events, the first being at the Waterfront Lagoon on Friday evening.

Obviously this is a very “public” location so please respect the surroundings and other users on Friday. It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase our sport in a fantastic location and we receive many approaches for more information during & after the event.

A big thank you to the Waterfront businesses that are supporting our event. Trampoline is providing participants with a 2 for 1 voucher (buy 1 midi get 1 free for friend/family member=($6.90) and a Jumbo gelato for our winners. We also have 3 x family passes to wave pool (2 adults 3 children) as a lucky draw and a PWC water bottle for every participant.

OTHER NEWS:

1. Triathlon Mixed Relay will be making an appearance at the Commonwealth Games soon. It consists of four athletes: two men and two women, who complete a short, intense triathlon of 250m swim, 5km bike and 1.2km run in the order woman, man, woman, man. The new format has enjoyed great success since the discipline changed from the original single sex team format in 2009. The recent ITU Mixed Relay World Champs in Lausanne, Switzerland attracted the largest field ever and had representation from all five continents.

2. Maybe we should have a Relay on our club calendar ??

3. Don’t forget to give a heads up if you are racing away over the next couple of months. There are so many events around the country it’s hard to keep track.

4. Still a few club shirts available. Only have a small left in Men’s. Women’s are available in S, M. L. $62 Email if you are interested especially if you are after one for a gift.

5. Craig Alexander has been nominated for Sports Performer of the Year Award following his double 70.3 and Ironman World Championship wins this year. Please vote for Crowie at http://www.performerawards.com.au/vote/registers

6. Only a couple of weeks away from Ironman Western Australia and Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championships in Phuket. Then it’s IM 70.3 Canberra …. hence the emergence of some fabulously fit looking folk at the moment.

7. Michelle Mitchell has been training the house down in Qld in her prep for Busso.

8. Chad Anderson is training the house down in Vic in his prep for Canberra 70.3 & some shorter events coming up.

9. The rest of us are slogging away in the build up J .. and finding it very character building !

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN …

...you have scheduled bike cleaning time this weekend

...you have taken delivery of new race wheels or fitted new tyres and tubes this week

...you are thinking about getting new goggles and elastic laces today or tomorrow.

Safe Training,

Cheers,
Robyn
