Robyn's E News 3 Feb 2010

Hi All,

Our juniors have their first event for 2010 happening this weekend at Lake Alexander boat ramp. Please note that the junior committee have revised the calendar and it now differs to that printed on our hard copy pink calendar. All remaining junior events will take place at Lake Alex. It's a safer venue for the kids and they will be able to enjoy the triathlon format more.

Do you know a junior aged 6 +? Let them know about our junior triathlon series and encourage them to join up.
We would also like to encourage all those people who have recently "tri 'd" our sport to take up club membership. It's cheap, great value we would love to see you join in our many club activities.

Darwin Triathlon Club membership is easy:

Go to https://www.securedvirtualnet.com/Sma/Triath/

On the right, click "new member registration"

You will then be asked:

What state - select NT
Do you live in that state - select Yes
Do wish to join club - select Yes
Club box will then appear - select Darwin Triathlon Club
Membership type - select Individual (the system works out if you are junior or senior by your date of birth)

Then click continue ... add personal details
Proceed to payment ... $110 seniors or $40 juniors

..... you will then be a member of Darwin Triathlon Club, Triathlon NT and Triathlon Australia and covered for personal accident insurance whilst training and racing.

Anyone wishing to join Alice Springs Triathlon Club proceed as above but selection Alice Springs as your club.

4. Simon Cruickshank had an eventful ride last Saturday morning. He nearly ran over not one but two snakes (one of them very much alive) during his aquabike-athon. Road hazards of a slithery kind !

5. Jo Duncan had a great excuse for missing Race 1 of the Aquathlon Series. Her granddaughter, Myana, was born on 15th Jan weighing 7lb 4oz. Jo says she is absolutely beautiful.

6. Craig Alexander and Sam Warriner are set to defend their titles at Ironman 70.3 Geelong, to be held at Eastern Beach this Sunday. Paul Bell and Ali Fitch will be among the almost 1,200 competitors and 100 relay teams. Good luck !

7. WADA has updated its list of banned substances for 2010. There are notable changes to last year's list and, if you're an Age Grouper, don't think this doesn't apply to you. WTC (ie M Dot events) have implemented drug testing for all athletes.

8. Another new IM 70.3 added to the calendar: Ironman 70.3 Centrair Tokoname Japan will take place on 19 September 2010

9. While on events you check out upcoming events (local, national and international) of interest at www.darylstanleyonline.com/calendar

10. Media hound: see attached pdf

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN ...

... hearing the phrase "This set with fins" is better than hearing "You just won $1000"
... you can happily hug a sweaty guy or girl
... you think watermelon is made in heaven

Safe Training,
Cheers,
Robyn
