Robyn's E News 10 March 2010

Hi All,

The mid week hump here already, is it just me or is the year flying for everyone else as well?

It's fantastic to see so many people out and about training. Race 1 of the Sprint Series will give us our first look in ages at the form of those with fast twitch fibres. It's been a while (way back in September) since we did a "real" tri, so Sunday's event is expected to draw a big crowd.

Thanks to those who have volunteered to assist on Sunday. RD Barry still requires another volunteer to act as course marshal at one of the bike turnarounds. We won't be able to start the event if this position can't be filled, so if you or someone you know, can volunteer please contact Barry (see below).

NEXT EVENT:

OTHER NEWS:

1. Midweek form: Jane Marie Kerslake is looking oh so comfy on her new bike; Rose Stephens looks to be in good running form & was spotted last night at Dripstone Cliffs; Vincent Gilly is regaining some form lost in an accident late last year; James Geddes took to his bed with flu symptoms and Craig Garland is putting in the k's to run a marathon in May.

3. Mark Anzin & Rosie Sullivan went to Melbourne and straight into the hail storm.

4. Those bound for IM China and IM 70.3 China have all now departed Darwin. Lee Wilson arrived in Haikou a couple of days ago and sent back the message that it was cool and rainy. It was unseasonably chilly at a low 11 degrees (Celsius) today, but the temperature is forecast to increase by almost 20 degrees by the weekend. Sounds like perfect conditions for our members racing there. Go, go, go !!

5. Roland Muench is LA bound in June for a yoga training course.

6. Don't forget to send in your Dag of the Year nominations and bike crash details. We need them as they happen. Email to darwintriclub@bigpond.com and all nominations remain confidential.

7. The new Abu Dhabi Triathlon kicks off this Saturday. It boasts a huge prize purse for both Pro and Age Groupers. Distances are a bit odd. They have a 3km swim, 200km bike, 20km run and a 1.5km swim, 100km bike, 10km run to choose from. mmmmmm maybe next year !

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A polite TRIATHLETE WHEN...

... you know not to be on your aerobars in a group ride
... you don't spit or snot when group running or riding
... you don't grab, push or pull others during the swim leg (it's not combat swimming!)

Safe Training,
Cheers,
Robyn
