Photo: Voluntary Race Director Asha giving the race brief

Hi All,

We had a wonderful turnout of competitors for the Aquathlon on Saturday evening. RD Asha Mahasuri had everything covered and the race worked like a charm. A big thank you to Asha and all the other volunteers (including those on water safety) who assisted on the day, we really appreciate your efforts.

A large number of supporters were also on hand to rev up the competitors. We all loved your encouragement .... but why not join us at the next event rather than be on the sidelines? Think about it !

FOR SALE / WANTED ETC:

1. FOUND: Accidentally picked up someone else's Speedo goggles after the race on Saturday. Contact Graeme: 0419 427 012

2. Items for E News or repeat requests by 8pm tomorrow please.

SO YOU WANT TO VOLUNTEER:

1. This is not so much about volunteering, more about what you can do to assist our already time challenged committee. Race takings all need to be counted and taken to be banked. You can help make our volunteer treasurer's job a lot easier if you bring your race fee in bank note form ... coins are every treasurer's nightmare. Thanks for taking this little step to help your hardworking committee.

OTHER NEWS:

1. Simon Cruickshank heads off this week to tackle the New Zealand alps in the Coast to Coast multisport adventure race. Wish him good luck if you see him this week.

2. Go the girls ! Michelle Mitchell was overall winner at the NT Aquathlon Championships.

3. Good to see Tim Ellison back in the field on Saturday. Tim is the current Arafura Games Triathlon champion.

4. Junior team of Savannah Rossingh and Mitch Ward took out the team medal at the Aquathlon. Mmm maybe a good Junior Youth team for Arafura in the making !

5. More than one sprint finish on Saturday indicated the spirit of competition is well and truly alive.

6. Entries are coming in for the Arafura Games event .... don't forget to register as a participant .... then select competitor .... then triathlon !

7. Expect to see more of you out and about on mountain bikes over the next couple of weeks!

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN ...

... a new model of your bike in a new colour immediately attracts your attention
... you have been swum under, or over, or through, or on top of, in a race
... your body clock is on auto pilot and you wake up just after five, regardless

Safe Training,
Cheers,
Robyn
