Robyn's E News 30 January 2012

Hi All,

The BoM radar is still very colourful and the forecast for today, surprise, surprise, is showers with one or two gusty storms. Moderate westerly winds, fresh and gusty at times.

On the upside, how nice is it to have cooler weather and be able to switch off the air-conditioning and open the windows wide. I love getting the odd sprinkle on my face during the night even if the books on the bedside table don’t !

URGENT: YOUR ASSISTANCE IS REQUIRED:

1. We have a number of roster vacancies that need filling for upcoming events. They are highlighted in yellow on the attached calendar. Please email with date and details of position if you are able to help out.

2. A number of Race Director positions (including vacancies for major club events) have not yet been filled and we urgently need to have a volunteer step up or we may need to reconsider our remaining calendar. Again please email details of which event if you are happy to RD for.

3. The club has a long history of willingness of members to assist at our events and I’d encourage anyone who has not yet volunteered during season 2011/2012 to put up their hand. We have a number of “How To” sheets prepared which can help take the mystery from any of the tasks.

4. So volunteer Race Directors and Timekeepers are not disadvantaged in our Triathlete of Year pointscore because they are unable to compete, they receive maximum points if they carry out that duty. (Refer pointscore policy)

5. We understand that your personal plans may change, but if you are already rostered on and find you are unable for some reason to carry out your duty, we ask that you source a replacement for yourself and notify us of the change.

OTHER NEWS:

1. Another big weekend of training with many (but not all) being lucky enough to dodge the worst of the weather.

2. One of our members is up for a new helmet having come off her bike after slipping on a metal cover. Watch those pesky things in this weather.

3. Uniform order has gone in to Cannibal.

4. E News for sale & wanted section is widely recognised as the ideal place to advertise your unwanted tri gear or to advertise you are after something in particular. If you are preparing an advt please make sure you state the basics (eg M or F, size & asking price) and a contact name and number.

5. Flickr photos from Australia Day event will be up shortly.

6. Sad to see the new shade cloth at Nightcliff Pool damaged again. It’s not that long since it was fixed.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN …

… you get funny looks when you put Body Glide on your neck because people think it’s deodorant
… you think you may have to beg the guys at the bike shop to not tell your partner how much you spend there
… The first thing you ask when you regain consciousness is "How's my bike?"

Safe training,
Cheers,
Robyn
