COMMITTEE NEWS:

1. WANTED: - Venue for the Duathlon race on the 23 Nov 08. President John Thyne asks if members can put their thinking caps on and give him some suggestions for a venue for this race.

As there is no swimming we can be a little bit creative and find a new or existing venue to conduct the race. Some requirements include: toilet facilities, safe riding course for a 40km ride, safe run course, a location people will travel to, some shade for the transition finishing area. So far the only suggestion I have received is Lee Point. Give call John on 0423 797 401 with your suggestions.

OTHER NEWS:

1. News of another tri baby on the way - congratulations to Tash & Daniel Clements.

2. A recent survey found most women won't ride their bike to work because they don't want arrive with helmet head hairstyles.

3. We wish Erica Reeve a speedy recovery from injuries sustained in an accident while out riding on Saturday. Erica is pretty beat up and battered but thanking her lucky stars it wasn't any worse, after coming down and her bike is knocked around as well.

4. Greg Kahl did his first ride in Perth over the weekend and thinks got the tailend of cyclone. He also somehow forgot the winter experience. Says the rain was cold, but with smashing winds the wind-chill was near unbearable. The tail wind was pushing him at 26km/hr, no pedaling, and his legs were a little weak after riding into it earlier.

5. A month after the Games, Beijing is apparently suffering a water shortage & they are coming into their dry season.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE WHEN...

... after a hard morning of training, you use your shopping trolley as a walking frame in the afternoon while getting groceries
... soggy, sweaty gear doesn't faze you at all
... you consider your training partners as part of the family

Safe training,
Cheers
Robyn
